Adopt a virtual guide dog!

I think it would also be cool if we could adopt virtual guide dogs and use our points to buy food, toys and stuff for it.

Post 2 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Friday, 28-Jul-2006 16:26:25

That would be a cute idea and something I'd do lol. However, I don't see it happening. I don't think many of the zoners would support the idea and plus, if the vertual dog thing was on the site, dunno, it might slow it down or something.

Though having a reason for getting points is a good idea.

Post 3 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 0:46:55

awwww, that is a cute idea!

Post 4 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 1:55:18

Well this dragon will support this idea. I hope things can work out for it.

Post 5 by Lupinsgirl (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 11:00:45

Yeah! You've got my vote! Then we would have something to do with all are points that are just sitting thair gathering dust.

Post 6 by softy5310 (Fuzzy's best angel) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 15:05:25

I like it!! I've always loved the vertual pet idea anyway and have been envious of sighted people for a while now that they can have them. The points don't count for anything anyway. We could also have different senarios which we would also have to use our points to get out of. For example, we get lost and we have to ask someone to help us, which would cost let's say, ten points, or we have to call a taxi to come pick us up, which would cost, 50 or something. Or we could create our own situations for other users to have to gigure out how to get out of.
Just an idea,
Dawnielle

BEN.

Post 9 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 16:40:39

Chris N needs another hobby, that's the point lol. Not that it's a top priority, but it would be a cute idea if Chris ever got bored... At least it would give us something to do with all these points

Post 10 by HonorGuardBuglerUSReserve (Account disabled) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 16:43:01

The point of it would be to give the blind community a chance to own a virtual pet. All the other sites are not accessible to screenreaders like neopets and others.

Post 11 by Spirit Led Poet (a single snowflake falling from the stars above) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 19:10:09

i deffinantly am supporting this idea, i think it would be kind of neat

Post 12 by the wrath of fire (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 31-Jul-2006 16:34:32

I definitely support the idea as well. Like several have said, points are just sitting there doing nothing, so having a way to spend them would be a good thing.

Post 13 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Monday, 31-Jul-2006 18:49:26

someone get a CL/admin and make them read this lol. It really is a great idea. I mean, having a text based guide dog, or any animal for that matter and whatnat, it's great!

Post 14 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 04-Aug-2006 9:35:29

I support the idea as it would give children an insight into caring for a pet. Good 1.

Post 15 by wildebrew (We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?) on Friday, 04-Aug-2006 9:48:54

I'd much rather get a virtual cane, easier to take care of

Post 16 by The Roman Battle Mask (Making great use of my Employer's time.) on Friday, 04-Aug-2006 11:11:03

Can this virtual guide dog help me pick up virtual girls, and will I get hit by a virtual car if I give my dog to much fat tire, and mud slide?

Post 17 by wildebrew (We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?) on Friday, 04-Aug-2006 11:15:45

Only if someone on the zone buys a virtual car and goes driving without a license, you could virtually get killed too since virtual driving by the blind is virtually impossible.

Post 18 by Phoenix (I'll do my homework...later.) on Friday, 04-Aug-2006 21:26:51

LOL. I agree with the idea..and it would give us, (again) something to use our points for.
And real cars are freaky enough, can you immagine what virtual cars could do?...LOL JK

Post 19 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Saturday, 05-Aug-2006 8:43:05

hehehehe.

Post 20 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Saturday, 05-Aug-2006 9:30:58

I'd sell certain relatives for a virtual Ducati Desmosedici with 203 break horse power.

Post 21 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Saturday, 05-Aug-2006 9:59:11

Just to correct whom ever it was that claimed that there were no accessible dog training games to be found online. go and peruse
Accessible games
right here on the boards. There's at least two in there and possibly more.
Showdog.com
and
Furry-paws.com
are the two that I know of.

Post 22 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Sunday, 06-Aug-2006 9:51:41

Well I just think the points should be used for something other than just sitting in our accounts. I think we should be able to adopt the other kinds of guide animals to other than the dogs. I mean if anything I'd like to adopt guide horse.

As for the payment for the guide animal why not make it to where you could pay 10,000 points to adopt one of them or something around that amount. Ah yes do forget that we could also give are animal a name.

Yeah we could also make to where we can build up their dog homes, stables, or whatever. I think that be cool to. Make to where we pay a cetrain amount of point to upgrade from let's say a dirt floor to a grass floor, from a grass floor to a stone floor and so on.

Have the animal have realistic features like they did for the Neopets on their site. Let's say you go check on the animal's status and it'll say the animal is hungry so if you had bought it food from a marketr place or off another zoner with the points then you could feed or give it water. Have it to where if you don't feed a day say it hungry, next day: very hungry, third day if not fed: starving and so on.

As for the items, they could be anywhere from food, toys, water, bowls, and such and such.

Post 23 by HonorGuardBuglerUSReserve (Account disabled) on Sunday, 06-Aug-2006 10:17:53

Yeah, cool idea!

Post 24 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Sunday, 06-Aug-2006 10:55:38

Yes it is and I'm still very supportive over this idea to. I hope the Admins can make this happen. I think this will be the turn around to spice up the Zone in which it needs. I believe once people hear about this the Zone would then be raking in more members.

Post 25 by Selena Fan (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2006 4:37:51

This is a really neat idea! I've always wanted a vertual pet! Once I even went to www.neopets.com after my sister went there! I was disappointed when I discovered that the web site wasn't accessible with Jaws! Chris I loved seeing the guide horse on Oprah last year!

Post 26 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2006 4:42:32

oooo I want a vertual guide aminal

Post 27 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2006 8:18:36

Well, I have to be completely honest with you all hear. I really don't see this happening. This web site is primarily here as a community with a few games thrown in for good measure. It sounds as though what you are now asking for is the site to completely change direction and become a game with a community attached for good measure. If you want vertual pets then follow the links I provided above. Those sorts of games are out there.

Seriously though I don't think that Chris and Jay would have either the time or inclination for this sort of thing. Of course I will point it out to them but honestly, I think not.

Thanks, Dan.

Post 28 by Pink Pineapple (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 08-Aug-2006 12:28:29

aww dan damn rain on our pet parade why don't you lol It's a cuteful very cute idea and I'd kill to see it happen.. Um or not but great idea!

Post 29 by laurliz1186 (Generic Zoner) on Friday, 11-Aug-2006 13:22:26

I think it's a very interesting idea! If the virtual guide dog idea doesn't come about, what if we set something up where a certain amount of points would allow a zoner to win prizes or something? Just a thought.

Post 30 by DixieGirl (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Friday, 11-Aug-2006 20:47:49

Furry paws is plenty accessible if one wants such a thing. But I know frompersonal experience that those games do nothing more than allowing for fun. They don't, just like the little giga pets that were babies, give you any real clue into what you are in for until you are really dealing with a real dog--or any animal--or a real child.
However, as has been stated, furry paws is plenty accessible and would suit all of your purposes I am sure.

Post 31 by Sarah Crossland (Always up for a debate. ) on Saturday, 12-Aug-2006 6:30:26

I agree. We need something to do with our points, not just the games. I like the idea of making other problems for users too. That could be a new game, except, you have to pay with your points. Could even have sounds in it. Like the taxi horn or something lol.

Post 32 by HonorGuardBuglerUSReserve (Account disabled) on Saturday, 12-Aug-2006 12:19:41

That sounds way cool!

Post 33 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 16-Aug-2006 11:14:41

i agree with all the ideas

Post 34 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Saturday, 19-Aug-2006 20:48:31

I think there should be a vertual city and have blind and sided be in it with Cars House and Bisnisses

Post 35 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 19-Aug-2006 21:23:14

All you guys out there hankering for virtual pets can also try www.powerpets.com if it's still around. I think this is a cute idea, myself.

Post 36 by chocolab (move over school!) on Sunday, 20-Aug-2006 14:09:45

Neopets works just fine for me, been on it for years. I agree with Dan, we all come up with these great ideas, yet it seems no one's willing ot put work into them except get a cl to read this. I'm not trying to sound synical, but if we can't back upour statements with wilingness to help find out how other sites like that were created, then why make anything?

Post 37 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 20-Aug-2006 22:45:56

You mean I'll have a reason to get points other then sitting in my shell for quicknotes? Hmm... Interesting to say the least. Have never done anything like this before and it sounds interesting.

Post 38 by lights_rage (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 21-Aug-2006 20:04:41

I like it but unfortunately i can't code. Let me learn php and I just might start somethin up of my own if they don't do it here.

Post 39 by sweet as honey (Newborn Zoner) on Friday, 25-Aug-2006 17:04:11

well it would be a good idea to have this feature and it would be good to make it as real as possible so that peple know what it is like to own a dog. It could be a learning tool before people decide to get a guide dog.

Post 40 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Saturday, 26-Aug-2006 9:00:19

www.furry-paws.com
is a really great site once you figure it out. Maybe coding a vertual dog would be a big job for admins who are rarely around, and maybe it would take up too much surver space?
*shrugs.
